Shadows can pick up the color of what they land on
A new shadow mode samples the layer or background underneath and tints the shadow to match, with a slider to control how strong the tint is.
Outer and inner shadows can now derive their color from whatever they actually fall on — the layer sitting underneath, or the document background if nothing is there — instead of always using a picked color. There’s also a new darkness slider that controls how far that sampled color gets pushed toward shadow ink, so the shadow can read as a soft cast tint or solid black depending on the look you want.
This sits alongside the existing “use layer color” option, which still derives the tint from the layer’s own fill rather than its surroundings.
